Yes, it's that time of year again! Opening ceremonies were the 11th, and the competition is well under way this year at the Hippodrome Complex in North Augusta, South Carolina. Liberty is fielding teams in EVERY category (including TWO women's teams). The Flames come into competiton ranked 6th nationally.

In the Championship Flight team competition, Liberty is in 20th place at +31 after one round at Dunapace Dunes. The Flames have two rounds scheduled for Friday, one at the Moody Woods course and one at the always challenging Hogback In individual competition, the top Flame is Ryan Shumate, who finished in 41st place at +3 after 2 rounds of competition on Thursday. Hunter Thomas was 67th at +8, Pete Curran finished 75th at +9, and Zachary Biscardi finished in 115th place out of 142 total players.

After two rounds at the Hogback course, Liberty's First Flight singles group is led by Trevor Staub in 12th place at -6. Jeremy Miekley is 17th at -4, and Christian Wilborn is one stroke behind him in 22nd. Taylor Nicol rounds out the Flames in this flight, finishing the first day in 29th at -1. After one round of doubles at the Headrick Hills course, Liberty sits in 4th place at -22, 11 shots out of the lead. They have 2 rounds at Dunapace Dunes left before the finals on Saturday at Moody Woods.

The Flames' Second Flight team is currently in 3rd place at -12, only 6 shots off the pace set by NC State after three rounds. They will be playing Hogback tomorrow in the finals. Singles competition starts today, with a morning round at Headrick Hills and an afternoon round at Moody Woods.

The Flames Women's Team A is currently leading Oregon and South Arkansas by a rather convincing 23 strokes after two rounds of play. LU's Heather Wyatt finished second, just two shots behind Clemson's Alex Lambert at +14 in singles competition. Hannah Trotz finished in a tie for 4th at +21, and Savanna Fox finished tied for 7th at +33. Flames who didn't make the finals in singles here were Cortney Cooper (11th, +22), Hannah Frey (13th, +25), Caroline Luccini (17th, +36), and Kelsey O'Brien (18th, +43).

I should have scored from Thursday's competitions later today, and hope to post those on Monday, along with results from today's and tomorrow's competitions.
