Normally I go to 2 races a year, both at Talladega. In 2018 I will probably go to more.

Is, is this actually really good advertising to a market that would be more accepting of Liberty than the general public? This feels like a smart move.

Absolutely. I think this was a very smart move by Jr. Not sure how long NASCAR is going to remain a major sport, but it is a good idea to ride it as far/much as we can.

William had enough speed today to qualify 5th. Starting position will be determined during the dual qualifying races Thursday.
He’ll be in the first race for those who earned an odd number place in single car runs today.
Should have the speed to spend a lot time near the front. Hopefully he can finish up there too.

In yesterday's practice, he posted the fastest time. In the qualifying race, he starts 3rd, with 2 of his teammates, in positions 1-2.

Has the vehicle been holding him back? Holy cow.

What am I missing? Didn't see him in results for yesterday's results?

He wasn’t eligible for the exhibition race yesterday. Only 17 cars ran in it.
His results were just for preliminary qualifying for the Daytona 500.

He was fifth-fastest in qualifying. Starting position for the 500 will be determined in Thursday's twin races.

ball coach is near Daytona waiting for Thursdays qualifying race. In Daytona newspaper this morning, some writer predicated Byron will be first car out of race. This is same paper that has practically already gave the Daytona 500 to Brad Kelowski. They have had more coverage of him than the other 39 drivers combined the week.

Don’t read too much into that. Daytona doesn’t take much to be fast. It’s well known in the sport that single car runs at Daytona and Talladega show how good the motor and body shops are, not really a driver intensive feat to accomplish. I think he’ll do really well this year but the results from this past weekend aren’t surprising to me but expected.

They still have the greyhound track near the speedway? Love watching the doggies run

Yes it's still there, but I have never been to it.

Greyhound racing still exists somewhere in America? Frankly I am stunned to hear that it still alive. They have closed down tracks all across America. And you may or may not be surprised to learn how difficult they are to re-purpose for much of anything else.

WV still has greyhound racing in a little town called Cross Lanes, which is just west of Charleston on I-64 toward Huntington. I've got family who live in Cross Lanes, which is also the hometown of Kathy Mattea.

I have driven by that track along I-64 for decades. I just had no idea that the puppies were still running there.

There’s a track between Fort Myers and Naples that runs dogs during the winter and has poker year round. I’m sure there are several more throughout Florida.

WE used to have a slew of them here in Texas a decade ago. Today, they are ghost towns.

Byron was running 9th in first Duel race but got clipped and turned. Car probably OK but will hurt starting spot for the 500.

Never mind. Just blew a tire. Tough break, but he's been impressive.
