I think there are some employees in our athletic department who would be wise to get their resumes in order. It looks like our new AD has zero aversion to out-sourcing.

Van Wagner is a solid move I know this was something proposed many years ago and I'm glad they made that move
I'll be interested in the ticket deal. I've seen things like this in the past so it will be intriguing to see what makes this different.
This is why IM was brought on. He's apparently being given a free hand and doing work

It really seems that he has unbridled access to make these decisions. There hasn't been a week without what is realistically major moves in a couple months. The ticketing and marketing moves won't FEEL massive to most fans, but they are telling about the reach that IM has at LU.

Imagine, it's the Sunday before we played coastal last season. You're sitting around and someone tells you that:

Jeff Barber will "resign " before the CCU game.

Ian McCaw will be hired.

Liberty will announce the move to FBS.

Trump will not only speak at graduation, but not get political, AND announce several FBS opponents including many P5s.

Liberty athletics will outsource ticketing.

Liberty athletics will outsource marketing to the most qualified company that exists.

JB was an awesome person, however the prowess, imagination, foresight, negotiation, and swiftness of IM is proving that JB was truly hindering the program with his lack of savvy in the field.

Not really disagreeing, but at some point it's a chicken and egg scenario. Was he ineffective because he was handcuffed or was he handcuffed because he was ineffective? Clearly JLFJR has a MUCH higher level of confidence in IM.

Obviously IM has been doing this job at a high level for a long time so naturally Jr is going to let him do his thing and give him more freedom. I just don't think we can fully judge JB's tenure knowing how little freedom he actually had.

Not saying there were no restrictions, but compared to the ADs that preceded him, JB virtually had carte blanc.

Oh no doubt about that. I'm also not saying JB was perfect. But it's impossible to fairly compare JB with IM. That's really all I'm saying. We can celebrate the AD's success without pulling JB down.

I am convinced that if Barber had been retained and given a TOTALLY free hand to make any and all decisions concerning Liberty athletics, we would have remained FBS until the SBC or possibly C-USA decided to throw us a bone or til he retired. He never would have made the FBS independent move. JLFJR realized this and knew he needrd someone who was both totally on board and capable of pulling it off. Regardless of whether you believe JB was capable, he was not on board, which is why he is no longer our AD.

IM has been given, apparently, more freedom than any other AD in LU history. The backdoor to The Mansion appears to be closed. For LU sake hopefully it stays that way

Can anyone (briefly) explain what either of these mean and the importance of these moves?
