A Sea Of Red

Old timers locally will remember him as a football player and later head coach at UVa who played in the NFL for a decade, but he was also the head coach at East Carolina and Marshall, during my first year in grad school there. RIP, Sonny.

I remember his sports minute segments on local radio. Very colorful and entertaining and always ended it with "So long everybody".

Back in his day, Sonny also set the UVa track record for the 100 yard dash with a time of 9.6 seconds.

I enjoyed hearing his sports minute segments as well FH...was good hearing that while I set up to do homework in school (well on the nights I DID homework)
