After the first day, Liberty's National Championship contender team is sitting in a tie for 10th place. They got off to a slow start yesterday, firing a 60 in the first round on the Old Glory course, but came back strong in the second round, shooting 45 on the Hogback course to finish the day at -20. LU's First Flight team is currently sitting in 8th place at +23, and the Second Flight team is in third at -9. The Flames are also one of only four schools to send a women's team, who are sitting in 4th place at +11.

I missed the two other days of competition, but here are the final results:

Team Competitions:
Championship Flight: Won by Augusta University, Liberty finished 7th. Fellow Big South members Kennesaw State finished 15th, and Gardner-Webb finished 19th.
First Flight: Won by Ferris State, Liberty finished 6th. Kennesaw State finished 11th, and G-Webb did not have a team in this flight.
Second Flight: Mississippi State won, Liberty finished 3rd. No other Big South schools were in this flight.

Does this mean LU gets an automatic invite for 2017 by finishing in the top 10 in the Championship Flight?

I'm pretty sure it does - last year, the top 12 teams in nationals qualified for this year. I THINK it's based on how many teams competed in the championships, so I'd say at least the top 10 will get in.

http://www.ncdgc.com/qualifying shows how they determined it for this year.
