I'll repeat what I said in the Wake Forest thread.

There were a few crappy controversial calls today, specifically at the end with the refs awarding a penalty stroke after time expired. On a side note Coach Murphy and the team made cookies for the broadcast crew which were delicious.

It's always a good day when the dirty birds lose, no matter what the sport is.

Field hockey is like football in the respect that a period can't end on a defensive penalty. Although I've never seen a penalty stroke occur in that fashion, I did see games at Lynchburg where 4-5 penalty corners came after time expired, it's pretty weird when it happens.

A short corner was awarded with about 8 seconds remaining and time expired as they took it. Somehow in the process the refs decided to give Louisville a stroke.

Doesn't sound controversial to me unless the controversy is over whether a foul occurred that warranted a penalty stroke in the first place.
