Liberty defeats Stanford 2-1 to win the NORPAC and advance to the NCAA tournament. What a turn around for Coach Murphy and the Lady Flames on the win. This team is quickly becoming one of the best programs we have.

Coach Murphy just mentioned that LU made a bid to host in the first round of the NCAA field hockey tournament.

The Northern Pacific conference and 5 of their 9 teams are South Eastern/Middle Atlantic teams? NORPAC needs to change their name...

The NORPAC might be the NCAA Tournament field. Too lazy to research, but is there another conference for field hockey?

So I assume the NORPAC consists of teams that don't fit anywhere else, i.e. schools from conferences that don't sponsor field hockey.

good question. dunno.

I see the Colonial, Patriot, Mid Amer, Metro Atl and Amer East confs all sponsor it too

we're evidently ranked #44 nationally. or were. last week.

this is really more than I've ever researched this sport and now I'm exhausted

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee announced Sunday the field of 16 teams for the 2013 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. Eleven conferences were awarded automatic qualification. The six lowest automatic-qualification teams will compete for three play-in berths. The remaining five automatic-qualification teams were placed in the bracket.

The following conferences and their representatives received automatic qualification:

America East Conference -- New Hampshire
Atlantic Coast Conference -- Maryland
Atlantic 10 Conference -- Massachusetts
Big East Conference -- Connecticut
Big Ten Conference -- Michigan State
Colonial Athletic Association -- Delaware
The Ivy League -- Princeton
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference -- Quinnipiac
Mid-American Conference -- Miami (Ohio)
Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference -- Liberty
Patriot League -- American

The remaining eight teams that were selected at-large: Boston College, Duke, North Carolina, Old Dominion, Penn State, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest.
*we evidently get a play-in game AT Delaware, 2 pm- Nov 13, since we are in one of the bottom 6 conf

somehow auto-qualifier doesnt mean auto-qualifier I guess seeings as "at large" teams don't have to deal with a play-in game.

So, the NORPAC is to field hockey as the Big South is to men's basketball.

Field Hockey falls 1-0 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Delaware got a goal in the 65th minute and held on despite being outshot.

Major props to the Lady Flames on an outstanding season, and the future looks very bright going into next year.

I was at the game today in Delaware and it was very competitive. We seemed to have more opportunities but couldn't take advantage of those even though Delaware seemed to control the ball more in the second half. We outshot them 11-8. A very good performance against a very good Delaware team. Very proud of them and looking forward to great things in the future for this young but talented team.

It was quite a run and hopefully a sign of things to come for this young program.
