Mariely Hassey, a native of Surprise, Ariz., is ranked No. 85 in the nation among college recruits by TennisRecruiting.net and has been ranked as high as No. 38. She also holds a No. 2 ranking in Arizona. Hassey has played in multiple high-level tournaments throughout her high school career. Last year, she captured first place in Arizona's Division I tournament along with a second place finish at the Copper Bowl tournament. Hassey also earned a first place finish at the Mike Agassi No Quit National tournament in Las Vegas.
"Some schools offer a quality education, some have good sports, some have good academics and some have good principles," commented Hassey. "Liberty University is the only school in the country where I get all of these in one unique place. I cannot wait to play as a member of the Liberty Lady Flames."
"Marielly has proven herself over and over again in some of the biggest junior tournaments in the country and so I fully expect that she will be able to do the same at the collegiate level," stated Maren. "Her competitive nature and 'never-say-die' attitude will serve her well. Best of all, she is playing for the right reason - to Glorify God."
