2nd year Field Hockey program with a big win over Villanova. If FH can do it, why can't others?

Men's tennis beat Oklahoma State last year and women's tennis beat UConn two years ago. Villanova is a close-to .500 program in FH at this point. Nice win over a recognizable name though.

No: questioning teams isn't a problem.

it's your horrendous attempt to compare the success of a field hockey team to a division I football program.

Apples/Oranges

NO other college sport can be compared to a D-I football program.

in any way, shape or form.

ATRAIN and others will tell you- we compete with and WIN against anyone in the country in the olympic sports. All day long.

esp the sports which highlight individual achievement: have you followed x-country, golf, wrestling ... EVER ... in LU sports history?

its nowhere near that simple in a sport where you can have 80+ kids playing on scholarship.

Did I compare FH to football? If so, when? Where? I don't think we've ever played Nova in football? I am a major supporter of our football program if you haven't noticed from my other posts, in fact I am one of the biggest kool-aid drinkers on the forum as Haize can attest.

Quite frankly I am surprised at your outburst, I wasn't talking one bit about our football program.

I think he was referring to the OP quoted above. Though it was not an explicit reference to football, it is fair to think that most would make an inference that you were referring to that with your comment

lighten up. If that wasn't your intent I apologize. And those of us that have been following LU sports since the 80's can tell you we've beaten the "Villanova"s of the world for decades. JMU was a huge regional rivalry back in the day and that's probably the closest comparison.

The last time we played 'Nova in FB was @ 2002 or so, IIRC.

EDIT: looks like we last played then up here in 1994. Time flies. (we lost, 16-13)

check out old FB records from the 90's and early 2000's.

we played App a TON and won at their place.

we played other schools (and won) that have since moved up.

we played many traditional I-AA powerhouses and held our own.

That's all FB- which evidently you weren't talking about. Our olympic sports have been playing those times and HIGHER level of competition for years. And winning. So I guess I'm not sure what you meant.

Was going along the same lines as your other post, but for different teams.
