LU swimmers at Olympic Trials

Liberty swimmers set to compete in Olympic Trials

June 20, 2012 : Liberty University Athletics
Brye Ravettine, along with incoming Liberty freshman Laura Day, will compete in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials starting June 25.

Liberty University redshirt sophomore Brye Ravettine has qualified to compete in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, to be held June 25 through July 2 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

This marks the first time that a Liberty swimming student-athlete will compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

In addition to Ravettine in the 50 free, incoming freshman Laura Day will swim the 100-meter breaststroke at the trials.

@jakeshell is providing updates on Twitter. This program is evidence that we can build something special on the mountain is we aim high.

Oh yeah, the program is doing this without the assistance of diving. Amazing.

Lynchburg, VA - Quite a few locals are at the Olympic swimming trials this week fighting for a spot on team USA. For one Liberty University student, making the team isn't as important as who's going to see her compete.

Brye Ravettine's mother was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and wasn't expected to live past the age of 35. But mom fought through longer than expected and now will be watching her daughter swim from the stands.
