Playing its lone match of the week, the Liberty women's tennis team is set to host No. 61 Virginia Tech at 5:30 p.m., Friday, at Lynchburg's Sports Racket. The match is the Lady Flames' final home match scheduled to take place at the indoor facility this season, with the team's remaining six home matches slated to take place on Liberty's Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts.
Virginia Tech, ranked 61st in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Women's National Team Rankings, is the first of two ranked teams the Lady Flames will encounter this season. Marshall, who Liberty is scheduled to face on March 2 in Huntington, W. Va., is currently ranked No. 62.
I am pullin' for the Lady Flames!!!

I am following the live stats and our ladies are playing well!
Play against this high ranked team appears to be a close contest on almost all courts!
Wish I were there!!!

5-2 loss, but close matches it seems. Young team w/ lots of talent...just need time and experience to put it together.

As tight as it was in those matches it must have been electric in there today.

Like you said it must have been "ELECTRIC"
I also wanted to add a Congrats to Jessie Boda on her victory tonight!
This was a HUGE win for her! If I am not mistaken this is her first regular season match and to post a victory against VT is amazing! Way to go Jessie!!!
Looking forward to our next match!

Sophomore Jessie Boda then notched her first collegiate dual victory in the No. 6 match, after being entered in the lineup by head coach Chris Johnson. Despite Hokie Megan Conley claiming the first set, 6-4, Boda fought back to square the match by taking the second set, 6-2. With the overall match already decided, the final set used tiebreak scoring, with Boda coming out on top, 11-9.
"Hats off to Virginia Tech," expressed Johnson. "We brought some good tennis tonight and they hung tough. I was really proud to see our young team continue to improve and compete strong." The Lady Flames begin Big South Conference play next week when the team's schedule picks up pace considerably.
The team will play three road matches in a span of six days, beginning on Feb. 25, after playing five matches in a three-week span to open the season. Liberty will face Charleston Southern (Feb. 24) and Coastal Carolina (Feb. 25) on one road trip, before taking on Radford (Feb. 29) several days later.
