Nearly a week after its opening competition of the spring, the Liberty women's tennis team will return to the courts, Thursday, for the first of two home matches to open the month of February. On Thursday, the Lady Flames will host Richmond at noon, while Averett will travel to Lynchburg, Saturday, for a 1 p.m. match. Both contests will be played at the Sports Racket.
Looks to be tough competition on Thursday...
Thursday's match with the Spiders will be just the second meeting between the programs. The first time out, Richmond swept the Lady Flames, 7-0, in a match played at the Greenbrier Resort on Feb. 1, 2009. The Spiders, who were voted to finish first in the Atlantic 10 in 2012, have won the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship for three consecutive seasons.

Heartbreaking...

But this women's team is young and talented. Richmond is VERY, VERY good...taking them to 4-3 is an example of the talent we have, and experience will give them the ability to handle pressure in close situations. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
