Probably where they're building the new NCAA field with 500-seat bleachers.

Not even giving a coach a whole year to recruit? Are they going to be satisfied with getting their butt kicked nearly every game for a while? Prime recruiting season for FH is in the fall and summer...

To answer your question, see the Lacrosse program or women's tennis when that was first started.

Fairly familiar with women's lax from first hand experience, unfortunately. Team had some good athletes but a lot of them didn't look to be much versed in the ways of lax.

About the conference we're joining:
The team will compete as an independent program in 2011 and is slated to join the NorPac Conference in 2012. Started in 1982, the NorPac's current field hockey membership consists of: Appalachian State, Davidson, Longwood, Radford, Stanford, California-Berkeley, California-Davis and Pacific

I have to admit I never saw the day when when we would be in the same conference as Cal & Stanford for anything (and I am sure neither could they).

A conference of convenience. See the Great West Conference in other sports for an example. Not many schools carry field hockey as a scholarship sport these days outside of the New England region. So sometimes you have create allegiances wherever you can find them.
