Upcoming Downtime

Hello, FlameFans.
Sometime tonight the board will become unavailable as it is being migrated to a new server. This is the beginning of an effort to make more resources available and keep the board from having load issues.
As with any upgrade I'm hoping the process goes smoothly but there are likely to be hiccups. Please be patient. I'll be working on it as my time allows and hopefully tackling this mid-week on the bye week will work out okay for us.
See you on the other side. Go Flames.

0651 and all looks well.
question: do you wear that helmet when programming? I think you should.
that way people would know you mean business.

During the downtime I headed over to the Firehouse to read some of the really old threads. I must say, the improvement in Medic's typing in the last five years is pretty drastic. And it's amazing to see the development of his ability to express his thoughts with words. It's like a child became a man (only without the typical physical growth).

Just FYI, there's more downtime to come. We're still running on the old server right now. The other day was actually the result of migrating data to the new server. We still have to flip the switch. Working on it.

Okay, folks. I think we're done.
FlameFans.com is now hosted from a shiny new server with better resources. The board should be faster, smoother and less error-prone now.
You may still see the "Board Disabled" errors temporarily, but those should be going away too.
You can thank our friends at Decorative Concrete of Virginia (
http://www.decorativeconcreteofvirginia.com/) and the Lynchburg Outdoor Living group for the upgrade.

Thank you for all you do Scorch. This place has really helped me get through the last 49 hours in the hospital.

Did those guys seriously pay for the upgrade for all of us losers? Why would they do such a thing?

I was thinking the same thing and wondering if ads are forthcoming, which is no problem for me personally, but I know some don't like the idea.

I don't care about ads, I'm just grateful. I'll be sure to mention these two companies when it's my turn at the table at Thanksgiving.

I believe the owner of Decorative Concrete is an LU alumnus if it's the company that I think it is. Maybe he was just nice enough to let us borrow some bandwidth/space?

They did, for a few reasons.
1. The owners are alumni, Flames Club members and big Flames fans.
2. I also host their websites.
3. They liked the idea of sponsoring the board, officially or unofficially. So, I wanted to be sure to plug them. Couldn't have done it without their help.

Tell them a BIG thank you from us. If I knew who they were, I'd PM them.
