Hey everyone,
Just a quick update after a great conversation with Coach Johnson this weekend. Talked about the incoming talent, and from the sound of things both teams should be VERY solid next season. The men return a strong 1 and 2 player in Siim Tuus and Tristan Stayt, and Giancarlo Lemmi will also be back and they will be joined by some strong talent in the fall. And the women return Jordan Jenkins, currently the best women's tennis player in LU history, and Hannah Fick. Valeriya Klintsevich should be back (she's of the tall, blonde Russian variety-left handed, hits the ball harder than some of the men who've played for LU
), and Carol Lobel as well. This year was a very trying year for them with all the injuries and stuff, but one thing coach said...and I think its something we can lose sight of on this board...is that he had never seen 7 young women grow so close to the Lord as that group did this semester. Since he took over, at least one person has gotten saved on the teams every year. This includes foreign players who may not have had much, if any, exposure to the gospel before coming to Liberty, and just think of the evangelical potential they have once they graduate and return to their homelands. Folks, the foundation has been laid for our tennis programs to have a worldwide impact for Christ that we'll, prayerfully, start seeing the fruits of in the next few years.
