Okay... we are very very new to Liberty so you will have to forgive this but... is JMU our number one rival????? Or just one of our rivals? Thanks for being gentle with your answers and I am sure as time goes on we will become much more familiar with all of Liberty!
I am still blown away with how our men competed and I know it was a crushing loss. There is no doubt this match could have gone either way. Let's hope at the Big South Championship Tournament we get the big Win against JMU and all the other Big South Universities!!
Happy Day!

We just don't beat JMU at any sport. They're not really a rival, more like a thorn in our side. Lost to them in Men's and Women's BBall, Football, Baseball, and now Tennis, and probably another sport or two, all in the last year.

Yup. It could be us vs. them in badminton and I'd be ticked about losing to them. I hate losing to them more than anyone else, and they're not even a conference opponent.

Ya JMU isn't our rival. A rivalry consists of BOTH teams winning games. LU vs. JMU always ends up the same.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for the explanation and for not getting upset with me for asking!
It is most helpful to know the background on JMU.
Having said that, you have to look at our men's scores in this particular tennis match!
We almost, it could have gone either way, beat this university! It was SUPER close, so I am going to just hope that our men's tennis team will break our JMU opponent and post a win Very soon.
( I am forever optimistic )
And we did have some individual wins over JMU, does that count??
Anyway, Thanks again for answering so kindly, We are So proud to be Liberty Fans!!
Happy Day!

LU v. JMU football was big back in the day (80's).
then they progressed and we didn't.
so now we love to beat them.
which rarely happens.
thus we Rage.

I would say in Men's Tennis, our biggest rival recently has been Longwood. We used to own JMU in women's tennis, but JMU's women's tennis team started getting more schollies and with the injuries/transfers/other issues that have happened this just wasn't their year to beat the Dukes.
However, I shared the above sentiment in that JMU seems to have our number in a long list of sports, especially this year. Men's tennis almost beat JMU last year as well in another close lost, as a former member of the coaching staff I can say without a doubt its very frustrating to have all these close losses.
