Bird commits to Liberty

I don't know anything about this young man but a 4 time state placewinner in FL is not a bad pickup. Fl is no PA, NJ or oh but it does have some pretty good wrestlers come out of it.

Gabriel Bird, a senior at Osceola High School in Florida, has verbally committed to attend and compete at Liberty University for Coach Jesse Castro beginning in the fall.

There's some good wrestling in FL. Lots of athletes in that state. Good pickup, the public school ranks in high school sport are usually full of DI talent in any sport.

2008 USA Wrestling Junior National freestyle All-American, made the decision after his recent recruiting visit to Liberty. Bird finished fifth at the Super 32 in October and won the POWERade Christmas Tournament this past December. He is currenlty 45-0 at 145 pounds.

Excellent recruit with tremendous upside potential.

With LU Captains, Shaun Smith (157) and Frank Gayeski (ranked 21st, 149) both graduating, he has the potential to come right in and have an impact.
