Interestingly, the girls I spoke with after the scrimmage were disappointed in their performance. They seemed to think they were "disconnected." Coach seemed to agree with the disconnected viewpoint, but said there were plenty of bright spots as well. The effort and intensity was totally there, but the execution was off at times. Serve receive was off a little more than I would have liked to see, but all the girls played tenacious and scrappy defense. We have the potential to put up a massive blocking wall this year. My viewpoint and the same of others was that we saw the equivalent of 2 top echelon Big South teams battling last night. I think that we have solid depth and great athletes who will deliver up some exciting and winning volleyball this year.
There were some pretty rough moments last night. I think I saw some pretty fundamental issues that no doubt Coach Pinder saw but when you can have an interquad scrimmage and it be of the quality you described Vadim (pleasure finally meeting you last night btw) Once we get those things ironed out on this could be a very special year.
