Upping attendance at matches

Just wanted to let you all know that this year some lucky VB match attender will win a certificate good for a cruise for 2 valued at $1000 courtesy of wfowlertravel.com. I thought it might be a neat way to generate interest in attending the matches, so I ran the idea by the athletic dept, and have received the initial approval. More details will be coming your way from the athletic dept soon. The more matches you attend, the more chances to win you will have.

If you are going to travel anytime in the future, please check out the travel site that supports LU athletics: wfowlertravel.com. Also, you can go to the website once a month and register for a free trip to great locations.

Gather up some friends and come out to watch the Flames win the Big South for the 3rd year in a row.

Thank you Vadim for the donation! I'm sure it will help to build the fan base.

I also want to put in a plug for wfowlertravel.com. It an excellent site for searching and booking your travel needs. We used it last month and it got us a great rate at a very nice hotel.

Go Liberty Volleyball!!!

what are you gonna do next year when the people who were just coming to try to win a cruise stop coming to the games?

Come up with something else. And people are not going to come to every game just to win a cruise! It might help generate more attention, but people who support the volleyball program will now have more incentive to make it to all the matches. That's what this does.

The idea for the cruise is two-fold. First, it is a way to thank all those fans who come regularly by giving them an added bonus for coming -- the chance to win the cruise. Second, it hopefully will draw new people who want to take a chance at winning, and when they watch the match, become fans of the game because it is so fun to watch. Hopefully the end result will be more regular fans attending the matches.

From a marketing perspective, it is indeed a hook. Sure you'll get some fans just coming to be eligible for the prize. But in the meantime they'll be exposed to an exciting brand of sport they may never have witnessed in person. Our girls are good enough to seal the deal based on the way they play.

Good enough

Women's volleyball is definitely much more exciting to watch than men's volleyball in my opinion, and LU women's volleyball is quick-paced and athletic. I think most people will really enjoy coming and watching the matches.

I love all sports, but after being around girls volleyball I find it hard to sit and watch softball or soccer. Even girls basketball seems to lack the level of excitement found in volleyball matches.

Every volleyball point has something for the fans to enjoy... a nasty serve, a great dig, a crazy set, a cannon-like hit, an in-your-face block.

Volleyball is a perfect fit for fans... something good or bad happens every 30 seconds.

I sure hope LU fans come up with some traditions (things to yell, some drums, etc.).

Go Liberty!

My freshman year at PC, alot of us freshman guys went b/c of cute girls in short tight shorts, come to find out it was really exciting. We were pretty darn good in D2, and then my sophmore year our HC left to become the HC at Tulsa. We've had some down years, but we went to VB games every now and then. It is indeed very exciting especially when it heads to a 5th game.

Volleyball is the type of sport that the hardest part is getting people there. Once you get people there and see how much fun the matches are, you get hooked and want to come back. That's what happened with me.

its one of my top 3 fav sports to watch, just behind international level rugby (i.e. rugby world cup) and just in front of MMA. (no really, id rather watch womens v-ball than the UFC - its that good...lol)
