Liberty fans will now have an opportunity to select the most notable accomplishments from this past year, when voting for the third annual Sparkys begins on Monday.
Sparkys Voting Schedule
Biggest Win (July 13-20)
Best Individual Performance (July 20-27)
Best Newcomer (July 27-Aug. 3)
Best Female Athlete (Aug. 3-10)
Best Male Athlete (Aug. 10-17)
So, what should the nominees for the biggest win be? Just off the top of my head: football @ YSU, football vs Elon, basketball @ UVA, women’s bball @ Va Tech.
Volleyball: 3-0 sweep of UC Irvine
Football: 26-3 win over No. 12 Elon in the regular season finale
Men's Basketball: 86-82 victory at Virginia
Women's Basketball: 45-43 triumph over Virginia Tech
Wrestling: Third consecutive NCAA East Regional championship
Wrestling's 2nd straight East Regional championship won the Sparky last year.
I went with wrestling. 3 straight NCAA regional championships is nothing short of impressive and it shows that the wrestling team can continually compete on a high level when it matters the most. To me that's more impressive than some regular season win - not to say the defeat of Va Tech or UVa isn't a big win, but it's nothing compared to what wrestling has done - and the wrestling win won them a significant championship, not just some regular season tournament.

I was thinking that, too. That's why I voted for wrestling.
*Note* I PROMISE not to vote for Baby Judas even though he is a Duke dude now...

Same here.

All of those performances were huge...but I also voted for Sam because breaking an all time NCAA record like that isnt just great...its sometimes transcendent (especially if/when Sam wins a national championship)
Liberty Class of 2009
2007 AND 2008 Big South Football Champions
2014 FCS Playoff Qualifier
I think another one should have been nominated. Some of us were there to enjoy it. The LU vs. VT game in baseball= Epic come from behind win all thanks to a bottom of the 9th 2 run Oppo HR that lifted the Flames over VT 4-3. Not saying it should have won but it should have been on the list.
Good call filmguy. I had totally forgotten about that game even know when Nick made the call on the radio, I was jumping up and down in my kitchen screaming like a girl.
