Best Student Group in the Big South

We've made this claim before and a lot of people think it's just us tooting our own horn and would dispute it, but I wanted to make a case for us. If you've got other things to add, put them here.
a) "You guys are the best in the Big South." - Marty McGillan, Winthrop Assistant Coach
b) "That's the funniest thing I've ever saw (at a game)." - Taj McCullough
c) Two schools have stolen our cheers. UNC Asheville stole a couple of them the game after they played us last year in the tournament. The cheers could be heard on tv during the championship game and they never once did those cheers when they played us. VMI has also stolen two of our cheers and used them in games. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
d) Terrell Hudgins (Elon) and Larry Thomas (PC) both said we were the most creative group they ever played against.
e) We have gone into other team's gyms/stadiums and been as loud or louder than their home fans. In football this happened at W&M and at Coastal. In basketball it happened at VMI last year and UNCA for the tournament game.
If you've got more, post them here. I just want to keep a running tally of things other coaches and players say about us throughout the year.

While I was watching the UNCA @ WU game the other night, some WU fans started chanting "you can't do that." I don't know if they stole it from you guys, but ...

I can't claim they did because we haven't had a group down there before. The reason I can claim UNCA and VMI did is because I had been to games there before and never heard them use the chant until after we were there.

"You Can't Do That" is done by just about everyone.
Duke had a rousing rendition of "I'm blind, I'm def, I want to be a ref" against Georgetown.

Oh, I know it is. I'm not claiming we're original with it by any means. I'm just saying we're the reason UNCA and VMI started doing it.

Conclusion: We deserve more attention

The original "Dog Pound" at UNCA was a pretty rabid student group...made up initially of primarily baseball players. One thing they did, when an Winthrop player went down with an apparent concussion, was the boxing count out: 1...2...3...4...etc.
One of the few times I had to hold back laughing at an injured player.

yeah, that's a tradition for us when a false start is called.
as for being louder than W&M...I think any team with fans that care would qualify.

You guys do it on a false start. That's pretty generic. We do a fundamentals chant on false starts.
We do You can't do that every penalty like holding and when people commit fouls or travel in basketball.

fundamentals is mostly for basketball, i like it that way as my favorite player in basketball is "Mr. Fundamental."
you can't do that can also be applied to pretty much any penalty, and it's really funny when you hear it on TV.

How many student groups are in the BSC?

Each school likely has at least one. I know HPU, WU, PC, Asheville, and Radford do. I don't know if Coastal's is still up or not.

As a club we were good. Yes, I left, but I'm not the club. Name another school that has gotten three ACC officials to bend over laughing before a game along with having the entire opposing team laughing. During the game we did our absolute best to get things going and even stepped it up more than normal at times.
Are our students the best in the Big South? No. I still contend that The LUnatics are the best organized group in the Big South and no one has given me a reason or example of someone being better.

Its also kinda hard to have 30 people battling 100plus of the opposing team fans.

Ive been trying to think of others
VMI - They actually sing the fight song. And they have more people. They are probably the best IMO because everyone knows what youre gonna get at Cameron.
Radford - Well its really just that one fat guy with Luck Fiberty. And they all have diseases.
UNCA - Gay groups are just as good as straight groups, no discriminating.
HP - They have sex at Hig Point. Do we? Obviously not.
Those are the teams Ive been to. I really do think VMI is better though in creating a hostile atmosphere. Are the LUnatics more creative? Yes. But 50 cannot compare to 3,000 all yelling the same stuff.

The Cadets are great. However, on Saturday games, they're REQUIRED to be there. All 1200 (not 3000, only 1200 in the school) are required to be at the game and the freshmen are required to be standing. I wouldn't call them a group though. I would consider the Big Red Club or whatever it is a group like us. Are the Cadets a better student section than us? When they show up, by-far. Is this semantics? Definitely.
