I think next year will be a banner year for LU volleyball. If our incoming freshmen meet their potential, we could look to have an awesome year. I know that Nicki is focused on improving her performance to increase our chances. I believe if we can market the team to the student body and locals who may be interested in the sport, we can double our attendance figures compared to last year. I have been watching a lot of volleyball in the tournament and have seen some great ideas that we could use at the games. I'm planning to run some of those ideas with Coach Pinder. One of Nebraska's assistants told us that they run a fan clinic in the spring to help the fans understand the game better and to get them excited about the upcoming season. She said it is super well attended every year. We could also teach the fans some cheers to be used at certain times like kills and blocks that would increase fan participation and enjoyment. The other thing I think we should do starting now is to push for a "sellout" crowd for the opening match of the season. We need to hype the idea of an "unbeatable Big South attendance record." Just think what it would be like to have 7,000+ in attendance to kick off the season. When we win that opener, we will get huge crowds for the rest of the season because of the new converts.

So let's get with it LU VB fans. Start talking next season up now.

You're right on track with everything Vadim. As you and I sat there in Lincoln, we saw what LU's program can become. It took 20 years+ for Nebraska to build their storied program. I think Liberty can "fast-track" the programs success because of the following reasons:

1. LU has strong connections with local adults (many church folks) who want to support and get excited about "high character" young people. The LU volleyball team is full of young Christian woman who have are great role models. In real estate it's location, location, location. In sports marketing it's connection, connection, connection. Our girls can connect if given the marketing and PR opportunities.

2. LU has 10,000+ students who are known to be willing partisipants when it comes to positive recognition for their school. With the help of convocation announcements, and good publisity by the athletic department, a "7th Player" culture could be created in the Vines. The "7th Player" would have yells, clapping patterns, unique responses to the announcer, etc. Most of all the "7th Player" attends matches.

3. LU's volleyball program is not in the shadow of any regional power. LU can fill this void. LU can become the Duke of volleyball.

Go Liberty Volleyball.

Gymtalk,

Please, let's not compare our team to a school whose name rhymes with puke! Go Tarheels!!!

If we can get Nik at a different level over the off season then our team will be at a different level next year.

We had a chat with Nicki after the Nebraska match. Even though we lost, she said it was the most fun she has had playing volleyball. She saw what it is like to have a great fan base and how exciting that can be. She also saw how well we competed with one of the best teams in America and an All-American player. She knows if she really steps up her game through more focused preparation, she can win against the best.

Looking at a few of our possible players for next year things really do seem to be coming together nicely. I have seen two of the girls play club in some tournaments that I attended out in Ohio. Quality all around. Shane is on the ball with these girls, they are physical and athletic, cannot wait to see what next year brings!

Not to mention with one Scholly to use...he may roll it over but there still a couple of sleepers that may work out WELL 2 years down the road with the proper training
