NCAA Tourny Round 1

I am hoping the Flames get a decent seed in the tourney to give them a fighting chance to get to round two for the first time. We will know this Sunday on ESPNU.

There was talk of a tune up game against American this weekend. I talked with Coach Pinder this morning and it looks like that is not going to happen. American has too many team injuries and needs to get healthy before the NCAA tourny. So the girls will have to stay sharp practicing in the Vines.

So far, I have heard we may end up at Duke, Penn St. or Florida. Regardless, there will be at least one more exciting game in the Flames future!!!!!!

If it's in the Carolinas, at least I'll have a short drive.

I have yet to find a website with the list of 1st round locations. Does anyone have a clue?

Q. Last year Dawn Turner, Associate Commissioner of the BSC was on the tournament committee for division one volleyball, and she helped to assign schools to diffrent locations. Is she on the committee again this year? After last years strong showing against Cal, strong pre-season schedule, and back-to-back championships, do you think she and the others will give us a team that is not in the Top 20?

I would say if we ran the table in the BSC and maybe had a slightly better out of conference record, we could have moved up in the seeding. However, you have to figure we are going to be one of the last teams in, rankings wise, and that we will likely play a good team.

The girls played great this weekend, it was really great to finally see them come together. Having everyone pretty much 100% healthy was a huge plus as well...

I really hope they will keep it going, and not regress to the not-as-organized volleyball they were playing in the beginning of the season.

Good luck ladies.

I shall applaud the Athletic Training staff for a great job in the treatment and rehab all year long...and the coaches for resisting the urge to rush the players back from injuries. That, my friends, is seeing the big picture.

Just wanted to pass along , some information I heard tonight about possible tourney sites and they are:
Delaware-CAA
Duke-ACC
UNC-ACC
Clemson-ACC
Flordia-SEC
PSU- BIG TEN
Maryland-ACC

These are the schools that have placed bids to host in our region. I was told tonight more than likley we will play at Duke or UNC.

I would prefer a trip to UNC or Duke, but will happily make the drive to Delaware, Clemson, Penn State or Maryland for a match (provided we play on Dec. 6).

GO LADY FLAMES!!!

I hope its in Florida...I could use a Vacaaaaaaation :D

I think the Tourny selection committee will use our performance in last years tourny as something to beware of....I know our BSC record isnt as good, but at the same time this is the same team that took a game off CAL...now pretty much EVERYONE from that team is now a year older? Be careful or you could have a very high seed being very mad at a tourny committee...I dont think we're at the level yet to start expecting to win...but I think we're at the level to cause a top tier team to sweat and not over look us

So what are the odds that the Flames will be sent to the West Coast for the first round so I can drive to the game? I can't wait for the responses to this pipe dream..............

well, i guess you can look at it one of two ways:

1. respect---knowing we gave Cal all they could handle last year, this was their way of trying to hold "the little (wo)man" down.

2. disrespect---well, because we are Liberty. Example: See this year's football playoffs and our women's basketball team going undefeated and playing an undefeated Tennessee in a 1 vs. 16 matchup.

You can fly into Omaha and it is about an hour over to Lincoln. Or you can save money on airfare and fly into KC and make the 3-hour drive each way. I've done both and none are great options. But the steakhouses are excellent either way.

I was secretly hoping they'd wind up closer to me. Oh well.

I cant believe we are playing all the way out there. Insane. American University is hosting, we should have placed there by NCAA Travel rules. But heck lets ee if we can make some noise out there.

Nebraska here we come

Kim and I will be in Lincoln for the upset of the century. Gymtalk and Laura will be there, too. We're flying into Omaha on Thursday and staying there Thursday night. We'll be in Lincoln for as long as we play. Chopertony, if you guys are coming, call me and I can get you into the same hotel that Gymtalk and we are staying.

Are you guys staying on the westside out near the mall?

There is not much to see in Omaha in December. But the campus in Nebraska is very impressive. I'll bet there is a pretty decent crowd for the regional.
