Kim talked to Nicki yesterday, and Nicki said her ankle has made much improvement. She thinks she will be able to play this weekend. She is determined to get back healthy soon.

Thanks for some good news on a day when I'm not expecting much.

that is great news! i do hope, however, that everyone is smart about her return. I can't wait to see her back on the court, but I would much rather see her out there during the tournament next weekend than risking it during play this weekend. In the scope of the big picture, this weekend isn't that important. I hope that we don't rush anything.
No rush

I talked to her at the GW matched and cautioned her not to rush it. She said she is not pushing faster than the ankle will allow.

I forgot to add that Maddie and Jimmy are great and they will not let any of the players go if they aren't ready. They have been working hard with Nicki on her ankle and her shoulder.

Thanks for the props to one of our program's clinical instructors and students!

Nicki tried jumping to hit in practice yesterday, and the ankle said it wasn't ready yet. Looks like coach may have to get creative this weekend.

Let me take a stab at Nicki and this weekend...
I can only imagine how much Nicki wants to play this weekend. I heard that she practiced today, and actually took a few swings at half speed. My guess is that she will play, but we may not see her hitting outside. She is a competitor, and I know that she wants to be able to help her team out as much as she possibly can, but it sounds to me like she doesn't know for sure if her ankle is ready. I still feel like we are better safe than sorry.
It will be interesting to see if coach decides to move players to different positions. I woudn't be surprised if you saw the number one setter in Big South take a few swings from the outside position. This would leave Boggs to run the offense. Also, Carmen has been playing well, so we can excpect to see her in the lineup.

Remember back when I said in the Kallie thread that would be neat if she could lead the team in kills one game....well, that was a friendly hint towards the direction we'll have to go this weekend
Outside the box

I think it might be better to have Boggs play outside. She played some outside in HS last year I think. Certainly she has played it more recently than Kallie. Also, the offense is used to running with Kallie at the helm. I think the least disruptive and most effective use would be Courtney at outside. She is a very athletic and aggressive player, and I could see her just crushing the ball from the outside position.

I think it will be good to have Kallie on the outside. She is capable of putting the ball on the floor, and it will give Courtney some experience running the offense.
