I really have tried to see the positive in this hire. I spent time trying to justify attending games and continuing the support the athletic department but I can't do this anymore. This hire doesn't reflect my feelings toward the academic department...it would be a shame to put this on them when the hire is for an athletic director.

However, I will no longer support our athletic programs. This is more than just reckless on Falwell's part, this is borderline (keyword) idolatry. We are now telling students that our athletic department will always take precedence...even if that means setting aside physical well-being. I used to long for Liberty to move to FBS, and gain national attention in sports. Now, I hope we don't receive an invite to a larger conference. I don't want the kind of attention Baylor has garnered over the past year.

With that said, I'll continue to follow the programs and hangout on FlamesFans but I will not be attending any more games until this situation is rectified.

... at least initially. None of us knows his heart condition or what he's done in the days and months since he was dismissed from Waco probably in disgrace. He may be a changed man from this process and want to do things the right way this time. He still will (and should) face the consequences of his actions (or rather inactions) at Baylor, but b) I will continue wearing my red, hopefully get back to Lynchburg for athletic events and support the athletics program.

So if an LU rival would have made the same exact hire you wouldn't be critical at all of it?

I praise Jr all the time but the past year he has made a string of decisions that have put the University I loved in questionable light. He silences anybody who disagrees and has surrounded himself with yes men.

I am so grateful for the things he has done to help grow our University but that doesn't give him a pass on bad decisions.

If this guy had been cleared of all charges before Liberty hired him I wouldn't be nearly as critical as I have been. You can't expect to maintain good disciple within the athletic department when the man that is hired to lead the department is still under investigation.

The Trump Endorsement you can at least justify by saying it was personal as opposed to University. Not everyone was fine with it. I at least understood the game

The disdain is towards Ian McCaw the Athletic Director who, while overseeing an incredible growth and success of the Baylor athletic department, at best had a massive blind spot towards sexual assault and at worst helped to cover it up. Those investigations are still going on and he has not been fully cleared of any wrong doing. We learned our lesson with Asa to wait until the unbiased legal proceedings are finished before making a decision. Had we kept Mickey as the interim for another semester and McCaw was cleared legally in that time, I would have absolutely no issues with this hire.
