I wonder if Morgan Hout will apply. He's got experience, knows the game, and used to have his own TV show back in the day.

I've always said timing is really funny sometimes. I really enjoyed my time at Liberty calling games and it is part of the reason that I'm in this market and have been fortunate to do a lot of national freelance work since moving here less than 2 years ago. As you mentioned, I have a great opportunity down here in Raleigh and the future is very bright. We are getting ready to take our show state wide into syndication and I'm fortunate to be with a great company who believes in us and what we can do. I'll say this, its diffently intriguing

As of yesterday there were over 100 applicants and the job opening hasn't even been posted officially.

As for the tv show, yes this guy would host it if we ever had one, but that's not on the table for right now.

deja vu, eh?

there have been over 120 applicants and probably will be more once the job is posted in the NCAA News on monday. the quality of applicants have ranged from people with experience at ISP and Learfield Sports, to Syracuse University and University of Missouri grads who are known for their communications programs. There is obviously a huge emphasis on a candidate to understand the LU culture and in turn has removed many names from the list. it is the dept's idea to have this wrapped up by july 1.

The have narrowed the field of candidates down to ten and they hope to have someone selected by Early July. I am anxious to hear who those of us who live out-of-town will be depending on to describe the action starting this fall. After listening to Jerry for so long on football games, it will be odd to hear someone else's voice on September 4th.

it's kinda sad that the retirement wasn't announced prior to the end of basketball season so he could get a proper farewell.

BJ, any word if you're in the pool of the final 10?

It's past July 1 (new business year) so they've likely made the hire but I would guess they're waiting to announce it until he actually starts. If he's coming from another school or something you'd hate to announce it before he finished up where he is now.

Beginning of the fiscal year makes sense. If he's coming from another school, he'll likely do them the courtesy of giving them notice so they can search for a replacement, in which case there is no reason to delay announcing it here. I think we'll hear something soon.

Right now is prime time for selling the fall so hopefully whoever is hired can arrive quickly. I am selling down here and most fall ad budgets are being depleted quickly.

Last I heard this about the time they were hoping to have everything finished up. So barring any surprises they should have an announcement soon.

Alan York, who was as ISP College sports and worked on the ACC game of the week, will be the new voice, per a university release.

York also worked as the media relations guy/broadcaster for the Winston-Salem Warthogs from 2000-06.

The Dash is the stupidest name in all of minor-league baseball, by the way. Boo Winston-Salem.

Anxious to hear him on the air this fall for football. I wonder if Red Dog knew him in Hattiesburg during his brief stint there?

This is a huge opportunity for Alan and I am anxious to see him succeed.

Alan is a good guy. Very personable. I expect he will do well.

As for the Dash, it technically should have been a hyphen. But, either way, I agree. It wasn't a great choice. Nice new ballpark though.
