It's even more impressive when you take into consideration he lost 6 starters to injuries throughout the year.

For the first time in the program history, the Liberty men’s soccer team captured the Big South Men’s Soccer Championship, Sunday afternoon at Eagle Field on the campus of Winthrop University. The No. 2 seed Liberty Flames scored two late first half goals, and then used strong defensive play the rest of the way, en route to a 2-1 victory over No. 4 seed Radford Highlanders.

Anybody see the write up in the local paper today?

Huge 3 column wide article about LC's girls' soccer team losing with 2 COLOR pics, and then we get a small one column wide article about LU winning the BSC soccer title--with no pics.

Wow. Adrian wasn't on the all-tournament team and we still won the whole thing. That's good for us.

I'm going to get ripped again for saying this, but budget and distance helps determine coverage.
We had the same issue yesterday.

I think we all understand budgetary constraints Knuckle, but both the paper and the television news cover tons of stuff where they don't have a reporter there to cover it. It's 2007 for goodness sake! The information is available, you just need to credit it. I don't think a piddly local story should get better coverage than a major accomplishment by one of our teams just because there was a reporter and/or photographer/cameraman on site.

Knucklehead is not available right now. He has moved to Ireland and will not return to this Discussion, or the one that will probibly happen in the Track thread later tonight. Please leave a message at the tone, and his assistant Helga will return your message next July! BEEP
