Besides the jagged edges, I like the middle one better than the one they chose. I guess they figured they had to throw some flames in there somewhere.

it's better than the old one. but it's so funny seeing how Liberty admin was making such a big deal with branding Liberty and LU and not wanting to be part of it to now all of sudden its LU . i guess new uniforms, field designs, and sports apparel on the horizon.

i would be all for a name change if it were to happen

Why would they choose the logo that cut out all the red from the eagle head? WEAR RED. I'm starting to think they just changed the eagle part to look more like a bald eagle. Which makes sense. And probably a good idea if there's going to be any change. But that LU font is just awful and from out of left field. We already have an LU monogram logo! Either use that font or, if the letters are too thin to scale down on TV use, use the font that is on every field we just built. And don't italicize it either.

But, how does it have anything to do with the Flames? Oh, I guess we'll throw in some flames where the feathers are. That should do it.

I like the Atlanta Hawks logo where the Hawk had its wings out and has a basketball in its talons. Granted it is a Hawk and not an Eagle but a tweak here and there, it could be changed. You could put an LU (which is apparently now legal to use) in place of the basketball or any other sport and have continuity and scalability.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm not a huge fan, but I guess I'll have to deal with it. Not to but, why go back to 'LU' when we're trying to brand the Liberty name? Now if it's an alternate logo, that's a different story - Carolina does it with the interlocking NC and the Tar Heel logo. And for the love, do NOT change the name to eagles. Every school system in the country probably has a school with that nickname. I don't see any problem with being nicknamed the "Flames" and keeping Sparky as the mascot. UNC does it (Nickname: Tar Heels, Mascot: Ramses the Ram). Miami does it (Hurricanes, Sebastian the Ibis). Alabama does it (Crimson Tide, Big Al the Elephant). It's a unique nickname and is directly connected to our motto - Knowledge Aflame. If the 'LU Eagles' isn't as generic as it comes, I don't know what is.

obv all this rebranding.. add christian in between LU to become LCU. get rid of the flames to something that no one has like the Maccabees, fits the biblical theme and it means hammer and was an jewish army. Liberty can stick out like it wants it to.
