One thing that really stood out to me all season long was the amount of unforced errors we were committing. I was afraid of it coming back to bite us in the tournament, and it did.

Congrats to Coastal, they are a good team.

Gymtalk, you have been great on the board and I hope you and the other volleyball family members will stick around and post.

And saving the most important thing for last, thank you Kallie, Chelaine, and Brittany for your hard work in the program these past few years. Y'all have definitely done wonders to get the program back to the top of the Big South, and I was y'all luck wherever y'all go and sorry to see it end this way.

The ladies did not take anything for granted. They knew Coastal was on a roll. Coastal played the best I have ever seen them play all three matches of the tournament. I watched all three of their matches because I am friends with some of the parents on their team. Our girls were beat up after a tough 5 set match against CSU the day before. Nicki's shoulder felt like it was about to fall off and Boggs almost couldn't get out of bed on the day of the championship. The Lady Flames volleyball team has more heart than you can imagine. There is no way they would assume the championship was theirs.

CCU served very tough and kept us out of system much of the day. If you can't get a good pass going, it makes it tough to make a good set, which then leads to more hitting errors. Many of our "unforced errors" were truly forced errors caused by their efficient offense keeping us out of system and making it harder to get planned plays working. The fact of the matter is that Coastal played its best match of the year and that went a long way toward having us play less well than we were capable of.

As to the comment about Nicki hitting less than .100, she ended up with 20 kills hitting .161. For the tournament, she had 66 kills in three matches (12 sets, 5.5 kps) and hit .267. She already had 113 swings before the match started on Saturday. She gave everything she had to try to bring a tournament championship. The rest of the girls played their hearts out as well. Don't ever doubt the heart of these ladies, they are true warriors. Thanks ladies for a great season.

Prtoud of the performance of Coach Pinder and the team again this fall. Considering where we were just a few years ago we have come a long way when we can feel so bad about losing a tourney final.

I know the consensus is that Courtney Boggs did an outstanding job filling in at setter, but am I the only one thinking that we probably are going to our 3rd straight NCAA tourney if Kallie doesn't get hurt?
