Actually, I don't know how much I like that. I can't get a read on how recruiting would be. I've been told by coaches it wouldn't matter and been told it would be really hard.

I dont know the numbers nor do I want to look at this hour but I would venture to say local recruits only make up 25% of our teams at LU so I dont think it would change that much....not to mention we didnt even touch local talent in football except the last few years

That's what's changing big-time. We're trying to become one of the main options for players in the state in that sport.

Alright ill agree KK does completely suck.

Football: The big south will be a fine conference because of the autobid coming up, and you can schedule a strong OOC to prep for the post season if you make it

Baseball: coastal is a top 10 team nationaly right now and has hosted like 2 regionals in the last 2 years and made it to a super regional last year. The big south play basically kills us in the RPI department year after year so that sucks for us.

basketball: Our program is sorry so it doesnt matter where we play

other sports: Dunno but i wouldnt mind socon competition.

So i want to repeat this, if KK was fired this conference would be a hell of a lot better off. It would be nice to actually see a game on tv once, i guess liberty's fb games are always on because they own a tv station?

It would be nice if we could snag some more Southern teams to our conference. Some quality ones at that. Because outside of a few schools this conf sucks giant turd balls

We have our own tv stuff which helps us, but we've had our own people (it would be Matt Hogue, Mark Roach, or John Martin for you guys likely) go out and negotiate a tv deal for us. It's much easier because we already have most, if not all, of the equipment, but the conference hasn't done a thing for us with that.

I know "armchair coaching" is something everyone thinks they're good at and if put in the situation, most people would suck at it. However, it's sad (from a conference perspective) when you look into a number of athletic departments and see that the people in those offices, not even the top of those offices, have a better idea on how to get things done and better ideas than our conference officials. I've learned enough over the past three years from working along side of, with, or even talking to our athletic department officials to know that they way we do things is how successful places do them. Then I look at the Big South and see how they're doing it and realize that the reason we're in the position we are as a conference is because of the people that are running it.

Just to revive a new thread for a second... KK told the entire Liberty football team that if we beat Elon we would be in the playoffs.....

The Big South is a joke. Does anyone in charge have a long-term vision for the conference? What is the goal of the Big South?

There is no goal for the Big South. Goals are for REAL conferences

In fairness -- Was the snub based on lies (there was no basis for him telling LU that they'd be in the playoffs) or weakness from KK (LU was supposed to be in the playoffs, but Kyle was strong-armed by the CAA and the selection committee)?

I'm going to guess that it was a little from Column A and a little from Column B.

Even though we have our own TV deals and crew the BS still retains some controll over what we do. I assume you are familiar with that quality product called "The Edge". They can also hijack any of our games as their own and bring in Matt Hogue and crew. An interesting relationship.

The conference might be ok once we get an auto bid. However, Liberty still needs to move into a more power conference in my opinion.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) - The Big South Conference today formally unveiled its renamed premium content website -- Big South Network, which replaces The Big South EDGE as the official video streaming home and broadband channel of the Big South Conference.

In addition to the name change, Big South Network will utilize new features and enhancements for its online video productions.

The Big South Network will continue to utilize a three-camera production for video streamed games and events, but will now include advances in format and technology for improved video streaming quality and a better viewing experience. Big South Network enjoyed a soft launch as part of Football Media Day on July 31, and its first video streamed game of the season on August 22 (Charleston Southern women's soccer). Beginning today, more than two dozen events will be video streamed in the next 10 days.

Through a unique partnership with its member institutions, the Big South Conference has provided state-of-the-art video streaming equipment to the membership, notably NewTek's TriCaster Studio, which allows each member to develop high-level productions featuring advanced graphics, additional video sources, and variable-speed replays. Big South Network subscribers will be able to enjoy these improvements while still accessing a tremendous number of events. The Big South Conference video streamed more than 600 live events in 2008-09, and should match that feat this year, with more than 200 events already scheduled for the upcoming fall season. The Conference will again video stream all home football and men's and women's basketball games in 2009-10, plus select schedules of other sports and most of the League's Championship events.

Fans can access additional Big South Network information at www.BigSouthSports.com, where they can subscribe to the streaming service at their preferred level: by the game, by the sport, by the season, or by the year.

We do our own production for games here. On our end it'll always be good. I don't know what the conference does once we send it to them though.

Did you read the article? It said they unveiled a new format late August. I would give them a chance this season, and not base it off of the old system.

Nowhere in the article does it indicate that have switched their contract with their provider. Sorry, they blew their chance with me with the the old name.

As for Tricaster, we use that it our childrens venues on our campus. Nice little product on the cheap but certainly not a true broadcast switcher.

Too bad Kyle's greed keeps us from enjoying the great LU streams we used to have before the Edge got in the way.

Yes, TriCaster = low grade crap. They want to try a Grassvalley and we can talk about quality. Seriously, I could put together a media team that would blow the doors off of EVERYTHING the BSC has going right now and people would ENJOY paying for it. (Not to mention the BSC would look good too!)
