I hate the notion that because one team outshoots another that team should win. I've been to quite a few games and most of our "shots" are hopeless attempts from 30 yards out which rarely challenge the goalkeeper. There is only one stat that counts in soccer and that is the score, and so far this season has been a disaster from that stand point. It will be no good going to GWU and "outshooting" them - we need to go there and OUT-SCORE THEM!

Not looking good for the ladies now - a 2-1 defeat to GWU now leaves qualification for the playoffs out of our hands. We must beat Winthrop on Saturday and then rely on a couple of other teams losing-out. I have tried to figure out some scenarios and I think the only team we can get ahead of now is UNCA. PC are not eligible for post-season play so are not in the equation. From a Championship game in 2006 to potentially not even qualifying in 2008.

As far as different scenerios to qualify there are actually three:

1. Flames win against Winthrop and GW only earning 2 points against Radford, High Point and VMI

2. Flames tie against Winthrop and GW loses last 3 games.

3. Flames win and Ashville loses against Charleston Southern and Radford.

So I guess from a mathematical stand point the girls could still finish as high as 7th.

Girls tie 1-1 with Winthrop, and are now out of playoff contention. Wow.

I think God is showing these girls that if they praise him win or lose , he is gonna bless them in ways we wont see. I hope u guys agree. There is till a shot at making playoffs, it is a long shot. We will need Winthrop and Gardner Webb to lose these games on Wed. I will keep u guys posted.

You really just played the God card in defending a team that significantly underachieved? I can't even think of anything to say to that.

I was not using the God card. I think if they make playoffs , that wont be underachivement.

We were picked third. If we finish 8th or 9th, that's underachieving.

My understanding of rules of advancement is that in the event of a tie, you then go to result from head to head. Have I missed something?

I wonder who's idea was to "let" James Price go. I hope they step up and take responsibility for this season. Going from winners to losers? We have basically the same set of girls from last year so what changed? Could it be that the coaching stinks? Let's hope next year is better.

Anyone remember the struggles that volleyball and tennis went through after coaching changes in those programs?

Lets give this new coach a couple years to get HER recruits in, get HER system established, and then lets see where this program goes.

"whoever" it was that made that decision saved themselves a ton more headaches, headaches that hurt far more then the ones you're experiencing with wins and losses

Its been said that a coach takes too much blame when the team loses and not enough credit when they win.

This year holds testament to that saying. The opportunities to score were there as was a couple of own goals which could have all ended this debate. Instead we would be discussing the prospects of how the girls would do in the tournament.

This team had trouble scoring last year and not much was changed going into this season. Three sophmores had to redshirt because of injuries which affected the defense, midfield and forwards. Too much pressure was put on a good freshman keeper, and points were not earned until a change was made in net. Surprise to some this team actually has two good keepers.

For next year, offense may still be a challenge so the focus really needs to be playing a simple system focused on defense first. The last spring season seemed to have them pointed in that direction. Hopefully this can be reached.

I have a real problem with comments like this. She had top returners available to her, kids who had helped win a championship in 2005 and advance to a championship game in 2006. The 2008 freshman class was ranked #1 in the big south. Evidently HER system is a problem, who knows how far downhill this thing will go when we get HER recruits as well!

Irresponsible quote from an idiot who clearly knows less than he thinks. How about you spend less time slandering James' reputation and get back to your dungeons and dragons game.

Massively disagree with this also. This puts far too much blame on the players. Yes, players win games - but at some stage the coach needs to turn the ship around.

Wow. Is this worth responding too..... yes, it is. Why don't we all just hold hands and sing cum-ba-ya every time we lose as well? Let's hand out some tracts while we're at it. Like Jerry said, if it is Christian it ought to be better. Teams respect us more when we win, plain and simple. When we lose, we're the school they can't wait to play again next year.

It's no secret the team openly talked about it...talk to any of them that were on the team before you start acting like this is some sort of big secret dude...and anyways you're right I wouldnt know...I'll start relying on you for the inside scoop...
