And the season ends with both teams losing (Men 4-0 to Winthrop, Women 4-1 to High Point) in the first round of the Big South tourney. Winthrop's men lose 4 seniors next year, Radford loses 1, UNCA loses 2, High Point loses 3, and Coastal and Charleston both lose 4 as well, while our 5 freshmen will be Sophomores.

On the women's side, I've already posted info about who's coming. Losing Jo hurts, but we've got talent coming to replace her. GO FLAMES!!!

And to conclude the Big South tournament, Radford beat Winthrop for the championship on the men's side, and Coastal took down Winthrop on the women's side.

from the official site: http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 97&TeamID=

Hannah Fick: ranked in the top 400 internationally at one point, has achieved a position as high as No. 5 in the New Zealand rankings. http://www.tennisrecruiting.net/player.asp?id=611149

Jordan Jenkins: has climbed as high as No. 2 in the United States’ junior rankings, posted a key victory in the doubles ranks at the 2001 USTA Super National Clay Court Championships. Jenkins is also a five-star athlete, according to the website, tennisrecruiting.net

also, Brazilian Flavia Picano (no info avail)

do we plan to use these ladies right away or let them acclimate for a season?

Flavia Picanco is actually the little sister of Fabricio Picanco who plays on our men's team.
They will be expected to contribute immediately. Jonita Randolph, if she were to compete in some of the tournaments they've played and won, would go deep but probably wouldn't make it to the semifinals, according to those who've seen the girls play.

Look for Fick and Jenkins to alternate playing 1 and 2 singles, which will push Kuznetsova, Waldthausen and Hanusz back a spot. Picanco will compete for playing time at the number 6 position.

Hannah (Pronounced Hah-nah) is more of a doubles specialist but can definitely hold her own in singles. She is nearly on par with Jordan from what I'm hearing from the camp directors down in Florida. I'm not familiar with all of the tennisrecruiting.net stuff, but I wouldn't let the lack of info on there be of too much concern. LU tennis is going to improve rapidly on the women's side and also make some strides on the men's as well. GO FLAMES!!!

Well no one graduated, and only one player may be transferring.

To ease concern about this, there will be some new faces on the men's team in the fall.
