This is a monumental achievement by our guys, and what makes it even better IMHO is that it is in one of the sports where excellence cannot be questioned because it is all there on the stop watch or the measuring device. This is what in most of the world is referred to as simply "athletics"; how fast, how high, how far.

I don't think too much credit can be given to coach Tolsma and his staff for what they have accomplished. :clapping :bowdown

As a side note, although I know they haven't been the hotbed of discussion here that some other sports have been, I think it's time for track/cross country to have a seperate forum.

the track team has definitely proven under the direction of tolsma to be one of the most consistent programs here on the mountain...... All of the big time scorers on the mens side will be returning at least one more year, who says we can not make the top ten next year, these guys and coaches deserve more credit for the long hard hours that they commit to competing at the highest level and succeeding, they are one of very few teams in school history to be ranked nationally in the top 15, great job to all....... good luck to those going to nationals. :D

Good luck with that one. I have petitioned on several occasions, only to be met each time with a "we need more traffic" argument. Aparently you have to be the only team on the mountain to be ranked in the top 20 in the nation with an incredibly bright future to have your own forum around here. Maybe it would help to have an athlete who has one of the most known names in his sport. Oh..wait.... No room. Softball, Volleyball, and Soccer are burning up the discussion boards. :BS

no prob at all- no offense taken. Good to have you guys around- we never had many people pushing these teams like you have. Keep up the good work.

and if it makes you feel any better- we have, by FAR, the most comprehensive coverage of ANY of the BSOUTH teams, let alone MOST college sports boards. Rarely do the "Olympic sports" athletes recieve their due- its not right, but an unfortunate reality.

i was waiting in line for dr. falwell's funeral and coach tolsma was in front of me. i had a chance to talk to him and about the track team, and just how things work in collegiate track. coach tolsma is a great guy, and he said that recruiting in the big south is getting tougher every year, especially with coastal getting better and he also said gardner-webb is going to be pretty good too. i really have a new appreciation of track, and will certainly follow it closer.

Thanks for posting the interview.

A few things I took from it... Josh looks and sounds confident. It will be interesting to see what he runs next weekend. EVERYONE should be interested in this by now (even the people who normally need to watch guys playing with balls to keep them occupied).

I hope that cough he had was just post-race induced.

Transfers for XC???!! I would like to hear more about that!

They want a podium finish at nationals next year! WhooHooo!
