I am not opposed to starting up other forums. The reason we had a LAX forum on FlameFans was because we were getting quite a bit of traffic on the subject back on the Firehouse. If in fact the lacrosse club is gone forever then it will not warrant its own forum.

But I'm still waiting to hear from some of the guys who are on the club right now to give us the lowdown. Coach Metallo and a number of the players have posted here in the past and I'm hoping they return to let us know what the status is right now.

Disclaimer: I do not own any shares of Laxman, nor have I ever met nor conversed with Laxman at any time. Just a casual observation.

Just one more: I read all that happened with that traumatic event concerning the team back when it happened--I had actually just found this forum. From all that I read of Laxman's posts from after the accident, I did not find anything that was overwhelming acerbic considering what he went through and he still held a modicum of decency in his posts and still supported LU. I don't know all of the ins and outs of how the university handled the situation, although it seemed that they may have left a bit to be desired. It is understandable that a guy would harbor a little resentment if he was treated poorly, villified and cast off by the institution not only that he coached on his personal time and cost, but of which he was also an alumnus.

It makes me cringe a bit at the cold, smug comments that were directed at Lax...It just comes across a bit callous and unsympathetic to roast a fellow alumni like that considering the circumstances...especially given what he, along with his team, went through. Even if one doesn't like the guy (for whatever reason) or just takes exception with what or how he said what he said, it seems unwarranted to cast aspersions at him.

I just hate to see anyone who's invested a significant portion of their lives to be cast off by the very people to which they have a common bond (investing a significant portion of their lives at the LU.) A bit of grace seems to be apropos in this situation, IMHO.

Just as a side note: Did anyone take a second and consider that with a brain injury, sometimes the areas of the brain that get damaged are directly tied to the emotional areas of one's personality and may suffer long term effects. Perhaps Laxman was having a particularly bad day and let seep into his post today a little bit of the bitterness that he's experiencing and the disappointment of seeing what he tried to develop on the mountian fold.

What's up guys, sorry I've been away for so long. I just graduated last semester and started Grad work this spring, I've been wicked buys. On to the matters at hand:

The lax team folded because a) they could not get enough players and b) they could not get commitment from as many players as needed to make a team. I haven't really been involved with the team this year, I've still been having some surgeries and whatnot.

Coach Metallo has done a great job trying to get people into the game and get a team established. To be objective, one thing all must keep in mind is that Metallo is not only a coach, but a teacher as well. He is constantly traveling to do seminars, he is quite busy. But he is definitely a scholar of the game.

I don't feel like getting into personal stuff and pointing fingers, all that stuff. (Disclaimer: I'm not making suggestions or referrals to any person(s) posting on this board, so please don't think I'm trying to disrespect anyone.) But honestly, I, for one, am ready to go on with life, the accident, after happened almost two years ago. Like many, I still feel bitterness at times and know that it's something that I have to ask God to help me with.

Further note: I've had great friends and family who have helped me through, and I don't know if I've thanked you guys personally for all the prayers, but they are definitely appreciated. Anyways, stuff happens, i.e. the wreck. It's easy to get caught up and wonder why it happens. It's even easier to get caught up and in all the ways that you may never be the same, physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. But life isn't nearly as enjoyable looking back as it is looking forward. I know that I have to work harder in school and my face may never be quite so pretty (comic relief) but the awesome thing to keep in mind is the fact that God has, is, and will be glorified through everything.

It's late, I have to make read 3 chapters to teach a class on Tuesday. I wish everyone the best. I'll be back on occasionally, as the workload permits. Hope everyone is doing well! If Luconn is around, tell him I said hey.

laxman, i wish you the best with your endeavors in new mexico. all you other guys bashing him, let ti go as well and let's move on. it is a shame the program folded and hopefully in the future it will return. it is a great sport. i think it is time to take lacrosse out of the index.
