Here is the place for the lowdown on tennis, golf and other sport on campus. And if you consider band, debate or quiz bowl a sport, you have found your home. It is also the place to discuss schoolwide athletics.

Is, is this actually really good advertising to a market that would be more accepting of Liberty than the general public? This feels like a smart move.

Absolutely. I think this was a very smart move by Jr. Not sure how long NASCAR is going to remain a major sport, but it is a good idea to ride it as far/much as we can.

#545805 William had enough speed today to qualify 5th. Starting position will be determined during the dual qualifying races Thursday.
He’ll be in the first race for those who earned an odd number place in single car runs today.
Should have the speed to spend a lot time near the front. Hopefully he can finish up there too.

Has the vehicle been holding him back? Holy cow.

#545818 He was fifth-fastest in qualifying. Starting position for the 500 will be determined in Thursday's twin races.

#545841 ball coach is near Daytona waiting for Thursdays qualifying race. In Daytona newspaper this morning, some writer predicated Byron will be first car out of race. This is same paper that has practically already gave the Daytona 500 to Brad Kelowski. They have had more coverage of him than the other 39 drivers combined the week.

Don’t read too much into that. Daytona doesn’t take much to be fast. It’s well known in the sport that single car runs at Daytona and Talladega show how good the motor and body shops are, not really a driver intensive feat to accomplish. I think he’ll do really well this year but the results from this past weekend aren’t surprising to me but expected.

They still have the greyhound track near the speedway? Love watching the doggies run

#545894 Greyhound racing still exists somewhere in America? Frankly I am stunned to hear that it still alive. They have closed down tracks all across America. And you may or may not be surprised to learn how difficult they are to re-purpose for much of anything else.

#545931 WV still has greyhound racing in a little town called Cross Lanes, which is just west of Charleston on I-64 toward Huntington. I've got family who live in Cross Lanes, which is also the hometown of Kathy Mattea.

#545943 There’s a track between Fort Myers and Naples that runs dogs during the winter and has poker year round. I’m sure there are several more throughout Florida.

#545959 Byron was running 9th in first Duel race but got clipped and turned. Car probably OK but will hurt starting spot for the 500.

#546092 Byron looking good! About to work his way into top 10 after getting caught up in a wreck and losing some ground.

#546093 Never mind. Just blew a tire. Tough break, but he's been impressive.

#546107 Wound up 23rd. Second tire blowout did him in again after he had worked back to 15th.

#546113 Byron showed himself well, with 3 different bad breaks that were not his fault and still running at the end. He will do well.
Ballcoach I agree it was good seeing the 43 do well but I thought the #3 going to victory lane was pretty cool being 20 years since Dale took it there the first time.

#546142 The national anthem at Daytona 500 may have been best rendition I have ever heard at a sporting event.

When NASCAR comes to Martinsville I would like to see Sounds of Liberty or LU Praise sing national anthem.

And Jerry Jr. Give command to start engines. And Jonathan Falwell give pre race prayer.
