Siim Tuus and Giancarlo Lemmi have both received Big South All-Conference recognition, as announced by the Big South this evening. The conference's tennis teams are currently in Asheville, N.C., as the season's award winners are being honored at the year-end banquet. Awards are voted on by Big South tennis coaches. Competition for the 2012 Big South Men's Tennis Championship begins tomorrow.

Tuus was named All-Conference Singles for the third-consecutive year, while also earning All-Conference Doubles honors for the first time in his career with partner Lemmi. With the recognitions, Tuus becomes the first Liberty men's tennis player to be named to both all-conference teams since Ricardo Shinozaki in 2001. Tuus completed the regular season with a 14-6 mark in singles play, with a 4-2 record in conference action, playing at No. 1. In his latest match, he knocked off Radford's No. 105 Nicholas Sayer, who earned the conference's Player of the Year honors. Tuus finished second in the voting.

In doubles, Tuus and Lemmi produced an 11-4 overall record, and a 4-2 mark in Big South matches, all in the No. 1 slot. At one point in the season, the experienced duo won seven straight matches to help Liberty secure the doubles point in each contest. Lemmi earns all-conference doubles recognition for the second time in his career, as he was named to the listing in 2010 with partner Chad Simpson. Lemmi is just the second Flame to be named all-conference doubles on two occasions. Shinozaki was named to the teams in 2001 and 2003.

Lemmi was also selected to the conference's All-Academic Team. This is his second straight year on the scholastic list, making him the fourth Flame to be placed on the listing more than once. Lemmi holds a 3.87 cumulative GPA and will earn his degree in kinesiology: health & physical education. He is a three-time member of the Big South's Presidential Honor Roll.

In addition to the voted awards, two of Liberty's student-athletes were declared flight winners in singles play. Senior Mandeep Yadav recorded an 8-1 record overall in the regular season, going 4-1 in conference matches at the No. 5 slot. Meanwhile, freshman Jorge Azuero went 9-1 overall and posted a 4-0 record in the No. 6 position.
Congratulations!!! :clapping
