we had 7-10 great chances to score and couldn't put the ball in the net. there were a couple questionable calls. the first one lead to the unc goal....no call that allowed them to counter attack. the second one was a penalty that they did call and the ref said "it was just outside the box". it wasn't and darryl would have had a penalty kick to tie the game with about 4 minutes left. reguardless of the call/non call, we had too many missed opportunities. that's the difference between pulling off an upset and saying we should have won.

yeah, there were some questionable calls on both sides, but when you miss a call like that one that clearly happend IN THE BOX then you get no sympathy....terrible call...LU had there chances though and didn't execute, but they played well for sure....and 2,000 fans at a soccer game, who would've thought??? Lets hope the energy carries into the football game tonight!!

So close. Did the team look sharp though, in spite of the loss? 2000 fans, what was that like? Was the track all the way around and up on the hill filled. Was the atmosphere electric? Glad to hear of the turnout, unfortunate that LU couldn't pull of the upset, but it seems from the accounts they hung tough with the number one team in the country...hopefully they can parlay the solid play into a Big South Championship and berth to the NCAA tourney. Congrats to the team for playing toe to toe with the Heels.

We should've won that game. We outplayed them. The crowd was awesome. The hill going to Williams was full and all 6-7 of the bleachers were full, with people standing on both sides and wrapped around one of the goals.

Certainly no shame in this loss. Statistically a very even game agains't the #1 team. Hopefully an indication that we have turned the corner.

I thought that UNC wore LU down with their speed. LU had several chances but couldn't capitalize. But at least the effort was there.

hurricane fan ... I was blocked from the call in the box, so I won't say anything about that one.

The turnover right before the UNC goal was right in front of me, and I thought it was a good, clean play. Guzman got double teamed and Carolina dispossessed him. It was physical, but not a foul.

Good game. I had to listen on the radio. I was on cloud 9 and cheering in my truck when FSN gave the call on the score that evened up the game at 1-1. You jerk.

Everyone was jumping all over each other when that happened. At the same time we were like, "That didn't look right..." That's when we found out it hit the side of the goal.

I happened to be standing on the sideline with the team at that point of the game and I thought it went in too but none of those guys were celebrating so I kept repeating, That didn't go in? I can see where everyone thought it did though. Great performance. Many scoring chances but couldn't convert. I thought we played better than them to tell the truth.

i spoke with coach alder at the football game, and he was very happy with the intensity, and overall play. he said if they can maintain that, they will be very hard to beat. i totally agree!!

I am sure I will get some grief for this statement... but just like Hockey, soccer is much better in person... I really enjoyed the game and what a great atmosphere!!!!

So the Soccer team did better than expected, but against UNC's backup goalie and missing 2 starting players due to red card suspension we should have won, we wasted too many chances early in the game we just couldnt put the ball in the back of the net. we got good play from the guys from Trinidad buts that it.. the game is played with 11 players not 2. hopefully we can get back to our winning ways with VMI tomorrow night! Good Luck Guys!!!

You may want to re-think that post Boston...

I'd imagine things would have been horribly different if we only put two guys on the field against their 11. Give the rest of the team some credit.

well yah obviously they played a big part in keepin the score close but the only two that made an impact in the game were osei and darrell... the whole point of my first comment was to say that we lost to a UNC team that didnt have their best goalie and 2 starters.. if that game was in North Carolina the score would have been 3-0...

If I was skinny I wouldn't be fat. If I had money I could afford a good dinner. The if game can be played a bunch of different ways.

Oh, crap, I just realized your post. Edit it to say Sport Management before Purple Haize sees it. He's the Father of Sport Management at LU and doesn't like the s on the end of sport. Do it. Quick.
