No one does, and I guarantee that if we ever get invited to join the CAA nearly everyone on this board will be doing
However, thats not going to happen anytime soon, so lets just work on continuing to beat up on the Big South in all sports and focus on making noise in the postseason when possible.
Stevev wrote:Seriously, how about women' soccer. We have had some descent year's from time to time and the big win vs Arkansas a couple of years ago but for the most part a very mediocre bunch and if not for the Big South being so weak we are not really that good. Against the Colonial the only win I remember is vs VCU but that was year'a ago and they were not that good. The BSC is a far cry from the Colonial in womens soccer as I see it.
The rest of the sport's failures appear to be short term or first year coaches like mens hoops, baseball, softball (This year we are bad but the last 3 have been great and we have had good years in the distant future). No reason to fire any coach for one bad year following some greatness or first year coaches.
Big South titles in 2000, 2001, and 2005. Another championship game appearance in 2006 that was lost on PK's. NCAA Tourney win in 2001 (Tennessee Tech, play-in game).
Three conference championships buys you a little grace if a down year (last year) happens once in ahwile.
So, I suppose this has been addressed by Barber and Co. now. Any comments on how this coaching change reflects or addresses the current direction of LU athletics?
No, please do not regard my question as anything more than it is on the surface. After learning what I have of the situation, I believe the correct decision was made, and I'm behind Liberty's AD 100%. I'm simply wondering if anybody else has some personal insight into what this change means in the discussion of the direction of the LU athletic department...
