I agree with Vadim... the off-season is rough!

At least Kallie plays in pick-up games during the holiday break. It's a neat thing... college players who return to Portland for Christmas, meet at a gym and show-off their skills. The better high school players in the area, plus some young club coaches join in the fun. The level of play is good, and they all have a lot of fun. It also gives me a chance to see a little more volleyball, and hang out in the gym.

Go Liberty!!!

Gymflcker:

So do you come out to all the volleyball games here at LU all the way out from Oregon???? I'm guessing not, but that'd be awesome if you did! :)

We make it out once a month during the season (August, September, October). Next year we will come back for Thanksgiving as well.

What we don't pay in tuition, we pay in airline tickets, hotel bills and rental car charges. BUT WE LOVE IT!!!

Go Liberty!!!

def a shame v-ball season is over, but we still got hockey :)

and for the v-ball parents that have never seen the lu hockey team play, they are just as dominating as the vball girls and like to fight every once in a while... (like once or twice a period...) :D

its quite a nice way to relax after yet another sweep in the vines center....

:fight I got to watch one of the hockey matches this year. The guys did very well. The other team had an entire line's worth of players kicked out of the game before it was over.

yeah, LU is a really tough place for opponents to play...

just a shame u never got to watch a game at the ice rink in roanoke ; )

max capacity was about 1200, so they'd cram in 1500, and then there were more than a few hecklers who could have been pros...lol there were almost scuffles between opposing players and our fans on more than one occasion. usually having something to do with the score. (think 20-1 vs. wva)

but now im at risk of being... :offtopic lol

I could see us living in VA, NC or TN without any problem. Maybe we could bring some rain with us. Some areas around Portland received 12" in 24 hours this week.

God is well aware of our hearts desire... to be with Kallie and watching her play. But for now, we are holding down a fort of faith for Him, at the end of the Oregon Trail... Fort Liberty! On game days, we even hang the LU flag on the house and wear red shirts.

Go Flames!!! Go Fans!!!... who love on Kallie and encourage her in our absence.

Hey Gymtalk:

I actually met Kallie for the first time tonight at the Christmas Coffeehouse event here on campus; she was talking to one of my friends who is in one of her classes. I told her how great the team did at the game and then I told her I used this message board and that you were on it... I just hope I didn't freak her out telling her I knew that you were her dad-haha. oh well, if i did, I guess I did :( Life goes on... haha. She has a fan club and she doesn't even know it!

jjbeaty - I'm glad you had a chance to meet Kallie. She and the other girls on the team know that many of the parents read and post on flamefans.com. It's all part of the fun and excitement surrounding Liberty volleyball.
