I don't like the transfer portal. I see it as a symptom of other things (such as coaching carousels, free agency in the pros, etc.) plaguing sports and society in general. I think if an athlete accepts a scholarship somewhere, then he should stay there --- or sit out a year by transferring. Brewer w...

I don't get where the thought "neither USC nor BYU wants to play the game" came from. The game is not going to be cancelled, and neither team wants it to be cancelled. Ok, go plug in Big 12 schedule for BYU 2023 and figure out how to pull it off. Oh, you mean the 2023 game. I thought you meant the ...

Would love to proactively go after BYU,Baylor,TCU,BC for long term scheduling if we remain Independent and decide to elevate our Program up a notch. It's all temporary until the conferences go semi-pro (SEC, Big10, Pac12, Big12, ACC). And, it won't be all teams as currently constituted --- just the elites. The Vanderbilts and Marylands won't be in it when the music stops. Neither will BYU or many mid-range programs (at least, I hope not, persona...

I didn't vote in the poll, but I think timing and luck are important. If Liberty could have a special season this year (no pressure), that could just be striking while the iron is hot and catch lightning in a bottle. Cincinnati hasn't had sustained success, but on the strength of basically last year...

Congrats, Rubicon! I sincerely hope our schools continue to schedule each other for years to come. I would love that. I think that it will be difficult. I really hope that Freeze stays there for a long time. I would love to see heads explode at Liberty having sustained athletic success. There are a...

Big 12 seems to be more open to privates. Add SMU and Liberty. This isn't a crazy thought. The trick is to strike while the iron is hot, and time the right wave to ride. Timing is everything. Utah and Cincinnati both did really well at just the right times (Boise St., too, although they are down so...

I actually think that seismic shifts beyond these SEC and Big12 realignments are coming, and I think they will completely alter the landscape. I'm sad, because college sports as I knew it in the 80s will be a thing of the past, and I think things are tending towards semi-pro leagues at the top level...

There's a lot of reasons we will remain independent. Religious bigotry is certainly a factor. Why else did it take BYU so long to land in the Big 12? They only got in because they were the obvious choice, head and shoulders above all else. Deny it all you want, but it's a major factor. I'm still wa...

One of the linked articles says the LDS has, "$100 billion in tax-exempt accounts in preparation of "the second coming of Christ,". What's the logic behind that? Is that in the book of mormon? It's not from the Book of Mormon or any other Restoration scriptures. It stems from our penchant for self-...

We own a lot of land --- some as real estate investments, but much of it is used in church ranches and farms to produce food and commodities. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) owns 2% of the state of Florida. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/os-xpm-2014-03-06-os-mormon-fl...

Glad this was brought up. I almost mentioned it the other day, when I spoke about the way I have streamlined my personal beliefs and what things are important. I am a 100% TULIP boy. There is a range of beliefs among SBC members, in my experience, concerning free will and TULIP/5-point Calvinism. Are we sure that the Danny White who was athletic director at UCF is the Danny White who played at ASU and for the Dallas Cowboys? I can't find anything to confirm that. I just want to humbly share a perspective from experience concerning taking a new coaching position. It may be an oversimplification, but there are 2 kinds of head coaches. There are those who love to step in a situation that is messy and down trodden and turn the program around. I tried that 4 tim...

I think BYU and LIberty will end up playing each other a lot after a seismic shift in the college football landscape (conference alignment) that will render schedules through 2030 moot. For a number of "woke" and religious bigotry reasons, I don't think BYU or Liberty will be welcome in any of the c...

I didn't get to see the game (ESPN Gamecast is very frustrating), but from what I "saw" toggling between Gamecast and the box score, this was a well-deserved win for Coastal. They stymied BYU's offense and ran the ball down BYU's throat. Disappointing for me as a BYU fan, but the games are played fo...
