Venzant is transferring to Abilene Christian, a couple of hours from his family in Midland. Similar situation to Brody. It will be interesting to see if the Wildcats can get any more offense from him than we did. He scored a lot in HS.

Just remember that fine academic institution, Louisville, got into the ACC, and I've never heard anyone refer to SMU's academics as being great. They have a $2 billion endowment, so they must be doing something great. Plus they've improved in regards to NIL sponsorship. SMU may not be exactly on pa...
After doing some checking, I discovered that in fact we have had the same hitting coach, Sami Fagan, since the 2022 season. So, did she suddenly forget how to coach?

Agree. I’ll add to that- I think we’ll see an even better version of ZC next year. I think his weaknesses were highlighted because of the team’s deficiencies, but even so he was both our best player and the player with the highest ceiling on the roster. Imagine if he’s not playing out of position o...
If the new players picks up on the pack line defense, Cleveland will not start. I'm wondering what your basis is for that bold statement of fact. Is it the fact that he led us in rebounding last year? Or assists? Or blocked shots? Or shooting %? Or that he has 2 years experience playing in the pack...
I'm sure they will rethink the Cleveland point forward strategy now as he did lead the team in TOs. Now that we have bigger and more athletic guards and even more athletic forwards we should be better to handle any pressure. Porter is our very best at taking care of the ball and passing but prone t...
I’ll add that TP as a situational 2 would be an option, but pairs w/CP, otherwise you get pressed/trapped. Don’t see a frequent advantage with that. Still see 8-10 rotation, though. Disagree with quite a bit of your last couple of posts. The idea that our smurf backcourt did not create matchup prob...

3 core returning starters (PG,2G,F). Add Peter (3G) & Aquino (F) to starting 5. And a ton of options to work with from there. All nice fits for this offense. All appear solid. 8-10 man rotation. Noice. We'll see, but IMHO the fact that Porter and Metheny were both starters last year is irrelevant. ...
One thing I worry about a bit is the effect an influx of 5 transfers who for the most part had no relationship with our program prior to the last few weeks will have on the team culture. I'm sure our staff has vetted them as best they can in a short time and with 7 returnees as well as 2 FR who have...
Liberty 4 NMS 3. Roberts 2 run homer. Kersten pinch hit RBI single in bottom of 6th, following a double by Jesse. for go ahead run. Madrey making diving catch in Top of 7th in LF, and doubled runner off 1B for game ending DP. Escobar complete game win. We're now in driver's seat for regular season....
Ihnen will likely be granted a hardship year because he missed 2 seasons in a row with injuries. If so, the only players on next years roster who will be in their final year of eligibility are Smith and Peter. If we sign both of our 2025 commits, Carter and Grimes, that will give us a full roster a...

So, counting the 2 coming off redshirt, we have 9 "new" players. Only 3 of the returners played significant minutes, and although they were all starters this year, I only look for 2 to start next year. I expect Metheny and Porter to split time at the point, and I think the competition for minutes an...
A Sea of Red wrote: ↑April 20th, 2024, 6:04 pm Regarding the scholarship situation, nobody is leaving. One of our players will be a walkon.Gotta be either Yates or Spell.
Not to beat a dead horse, but having 2 players who are total non threats to shoot the 3 in the starting lineup is very un-Ritchie-like, especially if neither is a true post player. We were there last year with Cleveland and Venzant, but let's face it, our options were limited to say the least. If we...
A Sea of Red wrote: ↑April 20th, 2024, 8:54 am We’re not done. Expecting one more addition. Not surprised to hear that, but of course the math is pretty simple. One more addition necessitates one more departure.
Anyone have any idea why Yoder was pulled after 3 innings with the game tied 1-1?
With us now being at the scholarship limit, the question is, are we done, or is it likely that we have another transfer out, thus freeing up a scholarship? I would think the most likely candidates would be Spell and Yates, and looking at the players we have coming in, I don't see the opportunities f...
UVA playing against a mid-pack MEAC team is their equivalent of us playing Non D1 schools. Individual player performances don't mean a lot. I'm not knocking Bond, and I think his athleticism can make us better, which I'm sure is why we are pursuing him.
Sounds like you don't watch UVA play that much. I would recommend checking out some footage. I was at his Morgan State game (check that one out). Ritchie has bought in 100% to Tony's defensive approach, but offense is another matter. He remains totally convinced that the best way to score is to rec...
Hopefully we are not losing out on Bond. I would say he has the best chance of leading us in scoring next year. I would love to sign Bond for his overall athleticism and familiarity with the pack line, but the odds of any player who logged 300 minutes in a season and only took two 3 point shots lea...
From what I can tell, these guys will confirm that it is actually possible to perform live and be creative in your 70s. Unlike a certain other group doing their "farewell" tour charging 4 figure prices to watch them lip-synch to 10 year old autotuned vocal tracks of 50 year old songs. John Mellenca...
