Please, this is another version of Kyle Rodes but not as strong. He may look good in a high school level but D1 competition, not so sure. Note: That video is highlights of his Sophomore year of HS, which means he was 15 or 16 years old. I am constantly amazed by the Kyle Rode hate. The fact that yo...

I believe Mark has accepted the Vanderbilt job. In 6 months , JMU has lost a President, football coach, basketball coach and I believe their AD. If that dump is so great, why's everyone leaving ? I don't recall reading much if any love for JMU on this forum. Their football and basketball coaches le...

I am of the opinion that earning garbage time minutes as a freshman at an elite 8 school is meaningful It's meaningful only in so far as it indicates the kid works hard in practice and has a good attitude. Emptying the bench at the end of a lopsided win is something that has become standard practic...

I also don't want to discount that Yates transferred in from a school that went to the elite eight and McDermott saw enough to let him see the floor for that team. He played 36 minutes in 11 appearances for Creighton as a walk-on. That's strictly garbage time. He did play a bit more for us, but alm...

Reclassification makes too much sense in Carter's case not to at least take a serious look at it.

That rule needs to be changed. Scholarships should be for 4 years, unless player gets in trouble and gets kicked off team, or flunks out of school. That rule has been in place for decades, and the reason is it benefits both the players and the programs. Nobody wins by having someone sit at the end ...

I really do not like the reclassification route. IMO, it's a disservice to the student, who could use their senior year for further playing time development and maturity. Obviously, it worked with Porter but it also obviously did not work with DJ Moore. Then to make matters worse, we blew his red s...

A strategy Ritchie has used before (with mixed results) would be to get 2025 commit Andrew Grimes to reclassify to 2024. https://twitter.com/myrdc/status/1753168257232552243 And while we're at it, how about our other 2025 commit, Colin Porter's former teammate Zander Carter. He actually may be more ...

Gaining by Losing (here is to hoping) When a player who has a limited future in our program enters the portal, I look at it as a "win win". They win by having an opportunity to find a place where they can fit in better and we win by freeing up a scholarship which can go to a player who may be able ...

This is the first time I can recall our losing a FR who redshirted to the portal. Could be he decided after a year that either the school's culture or McKay's system are not a fit for him. It could also mean he doesn't think his prospects for minutes are very good going forward.

I am not discussing specific. When I’ve spoken to Mark, I always sensed he was extremely happy where is. More of a “grass is greener where you water” kind of guy. I took the AD move as a segue to semi-retirement in addition to the pay. And yes LU would pay more, for sure. I just do t know that it w...

I suspect Mark will stay at Union. I also predict the next WBB coach will be female, and not a current member of staff. The Liberty coaching tree in women’s basketball is surprisingly deep. But I’m not sure the head coach would come from the tree. Other staff, maybe. Are you thinking of someone spe...

That article this morning was a sobering reality that our recruiting has been very underwhelming. Outside of Preston and Warfield, we have recruited a large amount of guys who ended up in D2 and lower. You are always going to have a few misses but that is a lot of misses in a short amount of time, ...

Who is this mystery man? Mark Campbell. He is currently WBB coach and Athletic Director at D2 Union University, where he has won almost 700 games in 25 years (he started there young, and is still in his early 50s.) Ashtyn Baker transferred to Union from LU to play her final year for him. He also ha...

You Green-McKay haters keep saying we need change but propose absolutely no alternatives. You talk like you just want to get rid of them and replace them with better coaches, but that's not done with the snap of the fingers. And good luck finding as good of cultural fits as either one of them - yes...

I just discovered that Verbal Commits has put a lot of the stuff that used to be free (including a lot of the transfer info) behind a paywall. Not gunna pay for that, so I'll be looking into what is out there. If anyone knows a good option, let me know.

In light of the season ending and the likelihood of our having one or more scholarships available, I thought I'd bump this thread up. Obviously, we will be looking to the transfer portal, but Luke Gray is still available, and if a scholarship opens up, he might be an option. He is longer and more at...

Agree with almost all of that Purple. I would add that another factor in the choice between Metheny and Porter could be the fact that Colin has been much better at making plays without turning it over. I would have Cleveland start next year because of what he showed on both end of the floor. Yes, he needs to improve his free throw. Venzant can start because of his defense and rebounding abilities. Everyone else can be replaced. The two guards will either transfer to a different school or come off...

The comments about the team lack of athleticism have been said by me and a couple of other people since the beginning of this season. We got criticized for it and a lot of people were brown nosing on Coach McKay. It was a failure of recruiting. I said this before, the two starting guards are as goo...
